Pro und Contra der Fluorchemie (The Pros and Cons of Fluorine Chemistry)

Jul 05, 2023

As part of the Dahlem Science Talks, Prof. Dr. Sebastian Hasenstab-Riedel, speaker for the CRC 1349 “Fluorine-Specific Interactions: Fundamentals and Functions,” explained how fluorine is extracted from raw materials, its significance in everyday applications, and the risks and unique opportunities associated with fluorochemical applications.

Through this public discussion series, scientists aim to provide the general public with insights into exciting and current research topics on the Dahlem campus as part of the Dahlem Science Talks. The focus is on scientific questions of great interest that are being addressed by five Collaborative Research Centers coordinated by the Department of Biology, Chemistry, and Pharmacy. The lectures are presented in German in an accessible way; no specialized knowledge is required. Registration is required.

After the lecture, all participants are invited to a Q&A session over light refreshments, with an opportunity for informal exchange in a relaxed atmosphere.
